Cellist Evgeny Tonkha is a First Prize Gold Medal Winner at the 12th International Cello Competition in the Czech Republic and Special Jury Prize Winner at the 13th International Tchaikovsky Competition. Born into a musical family, Evgeny began his studies at the Gnessin Music School with his father Professor Vladimir Tonkha. Graduate of the Russian Academy of Music in Moscow, he continued his studies at Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin with renowned cellist David Geringas. He performs with orchestras including the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra, Neue Philharmonie in Hamburg, Berliner Camerata, the Symphony Orchestras of Nizhny Novgorod, Toliatti, Ryazan, and the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. Hailed by the Los Angeles Times for his ‘impressive clarity, sense of structure and monster technique’, Pianist Steven Vanhauwaert has garnered a wide array of accolades, including First Prize Winner at the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition. He has appeared as a soloist at the National Center of the Performing Arts in Beijing, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, Concertgebouw in Brugge, and the National Philharmonic Hall in Kiev. He has appeared with orchestras including the Pacific Symphony, Lviv Philharmonic, Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra, Reno Chamber Orchestra, International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico, Flemish Symphony and Kyiv Kamerata.
